Netball begins!

Blue and Green netball teams played at Porritt School today.  Adam scored some great goals and Carter was awesome in defence!  You all looked like you had fun!

The good, the bad and the ugly

As part of our Inquiry, we are now investigating germs (bacteria and viruses).  Today, we carried out an investigation to see why we need to wash our hands properly to avoid getting sick.
First, we rubbed vaseline over the palm of our hands.  Then we pressed one hand into dirt and 100's and 1000's (no, we couldn't eat any!).  We tried to shake it all off but only some of it fell off.  Then we wiped our hand with a damp cloth.  Then we washed our hands with cold water.  Our hands were still dirty!
We worked out that by washing our hands with warm water and soap, we could get our hands really clean.

More magic box poems...

I will put in the box
Waves crashing onto the beach
A Mars Bar with sloppy caramel
A fluffy puffy cloud

I will put in the box
The whistling wind
Branches that ask me to climb
Me and my friend playing tag

I will put in the box
A blue sparkly crystal as shiny as the sky
Cherries as red as the sun

I will put in the box
My favourite book
The sun on a smoking hot day
A twisty rainbow slide

My box is magic

By Maia

I will put in the box
A screeching white seagull
A crispy yellow chip
An old crinkled leaf

I will put in the box
A little bouncing baby bunny
A big juicy burger
A big scary bear

I will put in the box
Nice cooked pizza covered in pepperoni
The feel of a shiny new book
A cicada rubbing its legs together

I will put in the box
A beautiful tree with leaves like crystal
Steamy hot buns
A nugget of gold

My box is extremely awesome.

The Magic Box

THE MAGIC BOX

I will put in the box…

Grandma’s delicious baking
The loud click of lego bricks

I will put in the box…

The splosh of the waves at Westshore
The loud noise of the TV coming on

I will put in the box…

Dad’s shiny green Hilux driving down the driveway
The smell of Mum’s yummy pancakes

I will put in the box…

The smell of a brand new Lego set
The engine roaring into life

My box is…
really awesome!

The Magic Box

Today we have been writing about our favourite things to put in a Magic Box.  We hope you enjoy them...

The Magic Box

I will put in the box…

The screech of a baby bird calling his mum

The crunch of crispy fried potatoes

Clouds playing tag in the sky

I will put in the box…

The crash of waves roaring onto the beach

Milky chocolate melting in my mouth

A creamy, full moon watching the world go by

I will put in the box…

The purr of my cat snuggling into me

Spongy banana loaf bouncing on the roof of my mouth

The wind brushing my face

I will put in the box...

The peace of a stream in the country-side

Potato and gravy disappearing down my throat

Smooth paper sitting like an obedient child in class

My box is…

Packed with amazing things!

Emily went to Te Mata Peak recently.  She found lots of fossils with her sister Ashley.

Movers and shakers

Room 9 have been learning some new Jump Jam moves today.  There were lots of smiles and everyone got into it!

Sharing our knowledge

Today we watched a video about the honey bee.  We shared what we found out with a partner and then we sat in two circles facing each other.  We shared one new piece of learning each and then moved around and repeated this afew times.  We could add lots more to our information placemats afterwards.

Welcome back!

Welcome to Term 2!  Where did the holidays go?  I had afew days away in the first week, I hope you were also lucky enough to catch afew days off with your families and friends.
This term we have our 3-way conferences and I look forward to catching up with families and talking about the awesome progress your child has been making this year.  We are continuing with our Inquiry theme of 'The good, the bad and the ugly".  This week we look into bees v wasps!
I have asked Room 9 to bring along a favourite book to share with the class if they are allowed to.  We will take very good care of them.
We also have a school trip planned, more about this later.
