Bugwiches

For our Inquiry, we've been studying insects.  Today, we all brought along vegetables to make  bugwiches (sandwiches that look like bugs).  Afterwards we talked about the skills we needed to do it successfully.  We came up with concentration, thinking, problem solving and helping.
Then we ate them for lunch!

Connor and Jaziah share ideas.

Here's Jessica- she's thinking about the design of her bugwich.

 Maia and Mia are concentrating.

Liam found an insect wing

Liam Reed discovered an insect wing at school.  He shared it with us today.  We have been talking about how some wings are transparent (see through).  This was a good example for us to look at.  I wonder what type of insect it belongs to?

Thanks Liam!

Insect hunt

Yesterday we went on an insect hunt.  We used magnifying lenses to study the insect closely.  We wanted to identify its abdomen and thorax and count its legs.

Do you know how many legs an insect has?

Is a spider an insect?

Ben discovered ants.

Jake, Brooklyn and Ben trapped some ants.
