Learning about 'area'

Today, we found out how many Room 9 people can fit inside one square metre.  We drew this on the concrete with chalk then crammed in!  We found out that it depends on the size of the person.  The first time we managed to fit 15 people inside the square.  The second time 16 squeezed in.

Yesterday we began learning about 'area'.  We used cubes to find out how many would fill up a piece of paper.  We counted them to find out how many square centimetres the piece of paper was.

Zeke is using a one metre length of string to find out what else is the same length in the playground.
